THE PEOPLE BEHIND SMAR
SMAR is run by a team of highly qualified, experienced and research
oriented personnel. SMAR'S staff includes professionals from the disciplines of marketing,
market research, management, applied economics, behavioural psychology, statistics and
computer science. Brief profiles of Executives of SMAR are given hereunder:
MAHMUD UL HASSAN
(Managing Director)
Mr. Mahmud ul Hassan received an MBA (Master of Business
Administration) degree from Karachi University. He has over 30 years of experience in
Market Research and Sales Promotion. Before launching SMAR International, he had been
working as Marketing & Sales Promotion Manager with a leading advertising agency in
Pakistan. He has also worked with research experts of international repute like Dr.
Richard R. Mead of the University of Southern California (USA) and Transportation
Consultants Inc. (USA). He has to his credit several years experience of actual selling
and distribution of consumer products on national level. In recognition of his meritorious
services in the field of Market Research, he was presented the 1988 Momento of Marketing
Association of Pakistan (MAP).
DR. HAREEM HAMID
(Project Manager)
Dr. Hareem Hamid is a medical doctor with keen interest in Market
Research. Holding an MBBS Degree from Karachi University, Dr. Hamid supervises SMAR's
Lahore office in planning and conducting specialised surveys among medical doctors for the
National Pharmaceutical Industry.
DR. FARHEEN MAHMUD
(Project Manager)
Also a medical doctor with an MBBS Degree from Karachi University, Dr.
Farheen Mahmud supervises SMAR's Karachi office in planning and conducting specialised
surveys among medical doctors for the National Pharmaceutical Industry.
MR. IMTIAZ A. MANZAR
(Project Controller)
Mr. Manzar holds a Masters Degree in English Literature from Punjab
University. He has also completed a number of Diplomas/Short Courses in the areas of
television broadcast in the USA. He has over 23 years diversified experience in
advertising, marketing research, and publishing. He has served on various professional and
management positions in United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.
MRS. YASMIN KHAIRI
(Project Manager)
Mrs. Yasmin Khairi obtained her MBA Degree from Institute of Business
Administration, Karachi IN 1989. She has more than 12 years experience in quantitative and
qualitative research. Besides controlling the female staff in SMAR, Mrs. Khairi is a
versatile moderator and conducts focus group sessions and staff training programs.
MR. MUHAMMAD ZUBAIR
(Assistant Manager - Data Analysis & Presentation)
Mr. Muhammad Zubair holds a Master’s Degree in Statistics from
Karachi University. He has acquired valuable expertise in marketing research, statistical
analysis of research data and presentation of results. He is a very keen writer and
speaker on various research related problems.
MR. SHAHID RASOOL
(Manager – EDP)
Mr. Shahid Rasool holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from
Karachi University. He has acquired hands-on experience in programming as well as data
base management. Prior to joining SMAR, Mr. Rasool worked as System Analyst for an
international engineering establishment.
MR. AFTAB ELAHI
(Senior Research Executive)
Mr. Aftab Elahi has obtained his MBA Degree in Marketing from Preston
University, Karachi. Mr. Elahi specialises in investigative and qualitative research
techniques besides supervising various research studies from start to finish.
MR. SAJID MASOOD
(Senior Research Executive)
Mr. Sajid Masood holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from Karachi
University. He has several years experience in advertising, marketing and marketing
research. Before joining SMAR, Mr. Faisal worked as a Business Consultant with a leading
securities firm in Karachi.
SYED M. MURTAZA TAHIR
(Senior Research Executive)
Syed Murtaza Ali holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration
from Preston University, Karachi. He supervises the editing and coding of completed
questionnaires and acts as co-ordinator between SMAR's offices, Field Supervisors and the
EDP Department.
FIELD STAFF
The SMAR Executives are supported by a team of dedicated filed workers,
computer programmers, data entry operators, data analysts etc. The field team of SMAR
comprises of 18 Filed supervisors and 78 permanent field workers. Services of other free
lance experienced filed workers are sought as per need. On an average, more than 200
workers remain on SMAR's payroll all year round.
The dedicated data entry staff, comprised of 2 data entry supervisors
and 10 data entry operators, apply various types of checks and double checks to ensure the
accuracy and reliability of database. The data analysts use latest statistical packages
and tools to perform most sophisticated statistical analysis to provide results that are
statistically significant and provide reliable results.
The programmers produce tailor made software to cater for diversified analysis and
presentation needs of our valuable clients.
